It’s so not about me, it’s really about the experience you’re going to create together. The openness, the vulnerability, the sharing, the trust. The caring, the compassion, the cheerleading that’s going to happen in this audience. And this audience is full of incredibly dedicated, committed people to personal development.

We all want deeper, more authentic connections. And not just—I don’t want you to think of connection just with others. Sometimes that deeper connection is with yourself, sometimes it’s with the moment, sometimes that connection is with somebody you love, sometimes that connection is with your creator, or the universe, or serendipity, whatever you call it.

But we all want to be more connected, especially in a disconnected world, you know. You want to feel a deeper connection with your work, with your craft, with your partner, your lover. Him, her, they.

You just like—I just want to feel that again. And I think for a lot of people right now, they actually want to feel that connection with humanity again. They block themselves off so much that they’re not even feeling those beautiful emotions. Empathy, compassion, love, service. Those beautiful moments of kindness throughout the day. Those beautiful things that make us feel connected with somebody and we sit around the same thing, sometimes we wait. “Well, maybe in our next vacation we’ll start talking as a couple again.” Isn’t it a good thing to bring up all the problems when you’re on vacation? Who’s ever have done that dumb thing? Anybody ever did? I’m the only dummy in the room? Who has ever brought up the wrong thing on a vacation with your partner? Oh, thank goodness. Okay, I thought I was in the wrong room. I was like, “These people are more evolved than me.”

So we wait, we don’t approach, we don’t engage, and then the worst things sometimes happen. And that is, somebody passes away and you left the connection unspoken. You left the connection unspoken. You felt the connection, but you didn’t say, “I love you.” And then it tracks. You felt the connection, but you didn’t say, “I appreciate you, you’re different. Thank you for this thing you’ve given me here.”

You felt the connection, the inspiration, but you didn’t sit and write it down. You didn’t finish the work, follow the art, master the craft. The moment of insight and inspiration was there, that connection to something greater than ourselves, but you didn’t stand and lead.

And so what do we all want? Greater connection. We want greater connection with our art, our craft, our heart, our presence, with people around us.

And we want it so desperately bad now. And yet, unbelievably, with all this culture has, all our society has, we now have a growing incidence of loneliness worldwide. When more humans are connected more than ever technologically, we have more loneliness. Depression is on the rise in a generation that has been more supported than most generations previously. Depression is on a rise in which another generation has lived a good life. We have more diagnosis of disorder, not because we know more about disorder, but because people are feeling that truth that we’re disconnected.

And I’m here to tell you the same thing I said about vibrancy.

You don’t wait to get connection. And I think the people who work on their personal development, not only do they want to lift themselves to higher planes of existence and experience, they also want to lift other people up. They want to do something good in this world.

How many of you really care about your personal development, not just because you want to feel happy, but because you want to be awesome for other people? Say, “that’s me.” It’s like that’s what brings this tribe together. We call you Team HPX all the time because it’s like, this is a team of people who care about the High Performance Experience. Not just because we want achievement, which we’ll talk about and we’ll get plenty of that by the end of these few days together.

But because we also desperately want and feel a calling inside, to be better for other people.
