100TH EPISODE! 5 Lessons Learned

Summary

After 100 episodes of my show The Charged Life, we’ve learned a lot!

This episode features my thanks…

… and my advice to anyone wanting to start their own show.

Watch the full video above to hear my 5 lessons learned.

Here’s some background on the show:

We started the show about 100 weeks ago on YouTube.

Back then, I had just a random number of viewers.

44 MILLION views later… wow.

Yes… the bulk of 44 MILLION views in 100 weeks or so. Incredible.

Since then, my Facebook fans went from around 1 million to 4.6 million.

When we put the show on iTunes, it debuted at #1 across ALL categories in the U.S. and four other countries.

Amazingly, despite the fact that I don’t really promote the podcast to my email list that often, it’s been a fixture in the Top 10 of Self-Help for 100 weeks.

I’m so happy and honored people keep finding us and spreading the word. It’s truly a dream come true and I have no way of expressing appreciation other than continuing on for you to the next 100 episodes!

I’m told that it’s the #1 most watched non-scripted, direct-to-camera, self-help show on YouTube. Lots of dashes there, I know! But it means we do the show in one single take, without a script, without fancy graphics to replace mistakes, without pictures of cats. Just a dude talking directly to people about living a fully charged life.

When they consider the number of views and downloads on the blog, YouTube, Facebook, and iTunes, we’re told it’s by far the #1 “individual performer” self-help show in the world. No guests. No bs. No ads.

What I love is that you all have made this happen.

As you know, I’ve never accepted or sought sponsors, nor have I run ads on the show. People always ask why. I just don’t like listening to ads. Period.

I don’t have any issues with other people having sponsors on their podcasts – it’s necessary for a lot of people and it can be a great revenue source.

I just personally don’t like listening to ads. That’s why I have turned down multiple 7-figure sponsorship deals – so that I can keep your listening ad-free.

This means I didn’t allow any ads to run to the 44 million views I’ve had on YouTube, nor did I allow any sponsors on the millions of downloads on iTunes. That could have been a lot of revenue, yes, but I love that people heard good things without all those lame commercials. We can spread good in the world simply to spread good.

Yes, I often have links to my books, but those links are always to free copies of my books. I’ve given away over 100k books through the show and my email list. (You’re also welcome to a complimentary copy of my last two books: Life’s Golden Ticket or The Motivation Manifesto).

The only potential revenue from the show comes sporadically, organically, and usually much later — if a viewer or book reader goes on my website and enrolls in one of my online courses or live events.

Luckily,  enough people continue to signup for our courses to allow us to continue self-funding the show and turning down sponsors.

Yes, the show could be “bigger” if I went with the sponsor and ad money, but I just don’t want it. I like that you can come to my show and hear positive messages unattached to ads.

If you feel the same, please share the show!

I can’t thank you all enough for your support!

As always, thanks to my team and a special shout out to Travis Shields, my producer, videographer, hero and compadre on this amazing adventure.

LOVE YOU ALL!

To the next 100!

Brendon
